Cream of Tomato Soup

Low heat: Add 1/4 tsp. soda to 1 cup tomato juice or puree, 6 rolled crackers, lump of butter or margarine. Cook 'til thickened. Add 2 to 2 1/2 cups milk or milk mix, salt; a sprinkling of chili powder is good here. Do not boil. Squirt of evaporated milk, if you dare, and a quick whip with the egg beater is especially beneficial with this one.
