Cut Biscuits

(with and without powdered whey)

1 1/2-3/4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. melted shortening or cooking oil
1 1/8 c. or slightly more milk (for soft dough)
1 Tbsp. powdered whey (optional). If whey is used, substitute water for milk.

Stir dry ingredients, add liquid and shortening and knead quickly on floured board. Pat out dough 3/4 inch thick and cut with a can or biscuit cutter. Cut biscuits may be baked on ungreased pan, 18-20 minutes in hot oven 400-450°F or ‘til medium brown.
