Ginger Bread

Set oven at 375°F.

In mixing bowl:
1 1/2 c. molasses
1/4 tsp. soda . . . stir ‘til molasses is yellow and foamy

Add without stirring:
1 egg, unbeaten
c. melted shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk or vinegar-soured milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Beat smooth, and bake in greased 7x8 inch pan approximately 20 minutes. Serve hot with butter or sliced bananas and a whipped topping.
