Malted Milk Cake

A World War II Sugar Rationing Recipe

Set oven at 375°F.

1 1/2 c. chocolate malted milk
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/2 c. water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix malted milk with shortening. Add eggs. Sift soda, salt, baking powder and flour together. Mix water and milk, and add to shortening mix alternately with dry ingredients and vanilla. Bake in two layers at 375°F for 15 minutes.
