Oatmeal Chips

Set oven at 350°F.

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp. orange juice with a little grated rind
3/4 c. flour sifted with:
1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 c. ground raisins (optional)

Shape in roll, wrap in waxed paper. Chill and slice thin.
Bake 10 minutes.
