Saffron is imported and is very expensive, but only a tiny pinch is needed for any of the following recipes. To get all the good from your “tiny pinch,” put saffron in a pan and pour 1/4 c. boiling water over it. Steep a few minutes, strain into the cup, mash saffron threads with the back of a spoon and pour the water over it again. Mash and strain several times until you get a deep orange colored liquid.
