Rolls-Buns and the Staff of Life

By any other name—they smell the same.

There are yeast recipes and more yeast recipes. . .mostly good ones. You can find them anywhere. But these, I believe, are different. Some are Granny’s hand-me-downs. Some were developed from such ingredients as I happened to have, and some, like Granny’s little boy’s britches, evolved from the better parts of two others.

Maybe you won’t save a lot of money with these recipes. Granny didn’t either, 'cause neighborhood kids haven’t really changed. They can detect bread baking smells a long way off. But have fun . . . I do.

Remember to keep dry bread crumbs, rolled fine, in a covered jar for instant breading, steamed puddings or buttered crumb toppings.
