Cooking for Daily Living

Cooking for Daily Living, 1979, self-published.

Cooking for Daily LivingMildred's cook book features the recipes she developed through years of turning out mouth-watering meals from everyday ingredients for her family of nine, the Bar UC hunting camp, public school lunchrooms, the U.S. Forest Service, and even a logging camp.

Her cooking lessons began as soon as she "could see into a frying pan." At the age of ten she "had outgrown mud pies and had developed a yen to cook" motivated not only by her inate curiousity, but by the wish to help out her Uncle Bill, who was doing the cooking when her younger cousin was taken ill, and later while the rest of the household recuperated from the Spanish Flu.
